Job Description
International Partners in Glass Research (IPGR) e. V. was founded in 1984 and brings together the world's leading container glass manufacturers in an association that sets trends in the glass industry with its research topics. The member companies are characterized by a particularly high level of technology and are continuously working to improve it.
IPGR, together with a consortium consisting of Horn Glass Industries, Wiegand-Glas, and two chairs at RWTH Aachen University, has launched the major project “ZeroCO₂ Glass.” The consortium has set itself the goal of researching a revolutionary process for melting and manufacturing CO₂-free bottles. The large-scale “ZeroCO₂ Glass” project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.
As part of this project, IPGR is looking for employees to operate the research facility as of May 1, 2024.
Responsibilities
Operating the melting tank, batch house, molding machine, and collection table in accordance with work and process instructions in cooperation with shift colleagues
Spot checking the manufactured bottles during research operations
Monitoring the entire system (melting tank, batch house, feeder, shears, drop distributor, and machine) for proper functioning in cooperation with shift colleagues
Handover of the workplace at shift change
Reporting of malfunctions that cannot be remedied by yourself to your superiors; if necessary, switching off the systems to a safe state
Maintaining machine reports, documenting batch compositions
Providing, mixing, and weighing batches and cullet; filling the furnace with batches and cullet according to work and process instructions
Reporting damage caused by yourself or others, responsibility for order and cleanliness in the entire area
Maintenance rounds in the melting furnace area, including documentation of any abnormalities
Assistance with repairs
Considerations
Qualifications
Completed technical vocational training, e.g., industrial mechanic, mechatronics engineer also welcome
Ideally, experience in a production facility
Willingness to work shifts, ability to work under pressure, flexibility, reliability
Systematic working style
Team orientation
Knowledge of German, ideally knowledge of English
